Your numbers are the wrong colours 🙁
Are you a synesthete Amy?
I’m not one myself, but I do sorta have the associations listed below in my head. As you’ll see I compromised on these for the colour balance of the image:
0: black or white
1: orange
2: pink
3: green
4: blue
5: red
6: yellow
7: bluey-purple
8: orange
9: pinky-purple
I think it probably goes back to posters on the wall in nursery or something like that.

How can 1 and 8 possibly be the same colour? That’s bizarre.
1 is a sort of yellowy orange, 8 is more reddish 🙂
That’s funny, I think they are the wrong sex. I always see 4 as a male and 7 female.
