Note: If you didn’t see my earlier post about the summer hiatus, it’s here.
So this year I’m helping out with CAPTION, Oxford’s comic convention (and, as far as I am aware, the oldest extant convention in the UK). It’s a strange beast as far as conventions go (more along the lines of a festival, than the market than the word “convention” usually entails) and it will be muchos awesome. August 6th & 7th, East Oxford Community Centre - mark your diaries. Every year has a theme, and this year’s is Austerity.
The convention has a fairly sizeable programme which we’re hoping to fill with submissions from talented folk - and this is where you (I assume all of you are talented folks) come in. Submissions related to the theme in any way you see fit [for greyscale, 300 dpi, A5 printing] are most welcome. PLUS, if you can get the original artwork to an address in the UK, we’ll be doing an auction to raise cash to fund Caption 2012. Email me for more details, submissions would need to be in by 17th July. I’m afraid this isn’t a paying gig, we have some very limited books to balance to keep the convention running at all (mostly venue hire, CAPTION is non-profit and fully volunteer run), but we can offer you the warm glow of helping out one of the UK’s oldest comic institutions.
Cheers
L
Every convention I’ve been to in the US regardless of daytime activities is a carnival at night. Since that is in a private facility it will most likely be more focused on the subject matter but I suspect there will be parties held after hours elsewhere.
Wouldn’t that make IE6 at _least_ 256 million?
If this week’s been successful in terms of visits (and “success” doesn’t mean your trying to minimise bandwidth use), it must mean that other readers, like me, think that your “summer hiatus” should be over (because frankly, it’s not summer anymore).
Oh my god! “you’re trying”! I wanted to write “you’re trying”! I hate people who mispell that…
